Who is a star campaigner?

A recognised political party can have 40 star campaigners and an unrecognised (but registered) political party can have 20. The list of star campaigners has to be communicated to the Chief Electoral Officer and Election Commission within a week from the date of notification of an election.

The expenditure incurred on campaigning by such notified star campaigners is exempt from being added to the election expenditure of a candidate. However, this only applies when a star campaigner limits herself to a general campaign for the political party she represents.

A science fiction-inspired robot hardwired to assist astronauts, launched from Florida early on Friday to become the first personal, artificial intelligence-powered companion in space.

The Crew Interactive Mobile Companion, or CIMON, is an English-speaking droid, roughly the size of a basketball, that will help German astronaut Alexander Gerst conduct experiments on the International Space Station (ISS). "What were trying to do with CIMON is to increase the efficiency of the astronaut," said Matthias Biniok, an engineer for chip maker IBM and one of the lead architects behind CIMON's artificial intelligence.

CIMON will verbally communicate step-by-step instructions to Mr. Gerst during three planned science experiments on the space station's European module. Currently, astronauts read these instructions from a laptop, which Mr. Biniok says is an arduous process that a responsive, hands-free companion like CIMON can replace.
