The Nehru Report confined itself to British India, as it envisaged the future link-up of British India with the princely states on a federal basis. For the dominion it recommended:
* Dominion status on lines of self-governing dominions as the form of government desired by Indians (much to the chagrin of younger, militant section-Nehru being prominent among them).
* Rejection of separate electorates which had been the basis of constitutional reforms so far; instead, a demand for joint electorates with reservation of seats for Muslims at the Centre and in provinces where they were in minority (and not in those where Muslims were in majority, such as Punjab and Bengal) in proportion to the Muslim population there with right to contest additional seats.
* Linguistic provinces.
* Nineteen fundamental rights including equal rights for women, right to form unions, and universal adult suffrage.
* Responsible government at the Centre and in provinces.
* Full protection to cultural and religious interests of Muslims.
* Complete dissociation of State from religion. "

Recently, Union home minister has chaired the sixth meeting of the Island Development Agency (IDA). About IDA:
* The Island Development Agency (IDA) was constituted in 2017 under the aegis of Ministry of Home Affairs to look into the holistic development of islands.
* Home Minister of India is its chairman and CEO of NITI Aayog acts as its convener.
* The other members of IDA include Secretary- Tourism, Tribal affairs, the Home Secretary, Secretary Ministry of Environment and Cabinet secretary.
* NITI Aayog has been mandated with the task to steer the holistic development of the islands in sustainable manner. "

South Asian Regional Conference on Urban Infrastructure was organised by National Institution for Transforming India (NITI) Aayog in partnership with United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and Pacific (UNESCAP) and Asian Development Bank (ADB).

The main objective of the conference to review overall issues and assess sustainability of PPPs and urban finance in South Asia, specifically India and broadening knowledge base and engaging on international best practices.

It is first of its kind conference which saw participation of leaders from government, industry, research organisations, academia, think tanks and civil society from across South Asian region.

The main components of conference included keynote and breakout sessions, panel discussions, presentation and a variety of stakeholder consultations.
